Catholic Medical Center - Emergency Department

Catholic Medical Center Emergency Department

Manchester, NH

Harvey has enjoyed a long standing relationship with Catholic Medical Center providing construction management and general contracting services to the hospital since 1992. Harvey’s team has been involved with projects ranging from operating rooms for one day procedures to sleep laboratories where patients with sleeping disorders are monitored for information needed to improve their quality of sleep and life to MRI installations.

Harvey was selected to manage pre-construction and construction of a new 72,000 s/f emergency department expansion. The new addition was planned to minimize overlapping renovation within the existing building however, it was necessary for Harvey to be sensitive to the adjoining departments minimizing the usual disruptions caused by adjacent construction activities. As construction manager, Harvey’s team incorporated interim life safety measures to ensure all occupants and visitors were safe and isolated from construction.

A critical challenge to this project was maintaining accessibility to the existing emergency department during construction. Temporary entrances, valet parking and clear signage were strategically utilized to minimize barriers to emergency care. As a result of successfully delivering construction to the hospital Harvey has continued to serve as CMC’s Construction Manager by commencing with construction of new surgical suites; a 700-car parking structure; MRI renovations; a new pedestrian skywalk bridging McGregor Street; and a new medical office building contracted with Stratton Brook Associates on the CMC campus.
